No Sleep Tonight

I love those McFly scamps. So much more than Busted who I only ever tolerated. I just feel bad for BBMak who were peddling this type of sound way before McFly were probably out of nappies (diapers to my stars and stripes waving compatratiots!) and are now probably listening to it on the radio in Wal*Mart. McFly's Wonderland album is filled with little gems of perfect pop and is a little more eclectic in its influences (read: direct copying) than say, the almost as loveable Click Five. I can't stop listening to this acoustic version of The Ballad Of Paul K (or Paul R as i like to think it was originally called!) ~ if only for the incredibly poignant lyrics "And he can't understand these feelings ~ why life is getting him down, he used to smile now he frowns and cries inside. Its been this way for a while and he can't seem to get things right" How poignant - i know there are times when I have felt like that. Now someone hug me damn it!

And ever since Busted and McFly made it big (which is probably why the fabbo V never really succeeded but thats another post), record company bosses have been searching for the girlie girl equivalent. Bangles lite if you will (sidebar your honour: i love Tear Off Your Own Head). At first I thought it would be the Faders with the peppy No Sleep Tonight, which indeed was featured on the 2nd most genius show currently on television (Veronica Mars) but then they released Jump which quite frankly was rubbish. Then Love Bites came along and even though they are from Coventry which is sadly where I work, they too were a little bit crap (read: alot). But now the faders are coming back with more peppy pop. Its not grounbreaking or original or even outstanding but their contribution to the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack, Better Off Dead, is like a cold bracing shower of poppy goodness. If they keep this up, they may even get to release their debut cd....

Note: poor darren is v poorly right now, bless him. I swear even private health in britain is tediously slow and crap. I may have to headbut (read: bitch slap) someone if he isn't correctly treated soon...

oh i heard they were doing that. i think i wouldn't be overly averse to them having some success here ;) As long as its more BOD rather than that useless Jump track! How was kelly?

Fantastic! Amazing voice live, so powerful. Great bit when she did 'Hazel Eyes' when she ran off and changed into the tatty wedding dress from the video.
