The Arctic Monkeys have a new ep out on April 24th with 4 new tracks on and a really gay looking pic in this weeks NME. Its called Who The Fuck Are The Arctic Monkeys and if you don't know the answer to that question, you've been living under a rock. New songs sound like the old ones and i'm not bowled over by the hype, but worth a listen if you have nowt else to do...
MP3: Cigarette Smoker Fiona

The Upper Room follow up the magnificent All Over This Town with a quite lovely acoustic track called Black and White. I've my fingers crossed for big things for this band...
MP3: Black and White

William of Young is releasing Who Am I which a friend of mine Billy picked as a stand out track on the album Keep On so kudos to him. Not only is the Blue Peter video dominating music television, but there will be a Cords remix of the track and acoustic sessions on iTunes on April 24th. Let the monkey/young chart battle begin!

The pet shop boys are all over the blogs aren't they? They have done a rather brillo pad interview in the latest issue of Q magazine which you can read here. Best quote? "madonna's english accent is rather convincing. But she looked thin"

EDIT! by popular (well someone mentioned they hadn't heard it!) here is Robbie doing a cover of the PSB IWKDTKOT - but its a bit rubbish so download this instead ;0

MP3: Robbie ~ I Wouldn't Normally Do...

Ocean Colour Scene, Daniel Powter (aka Hat Head aka Mr Ugly), B52s, Jason Mraz and Beautiful South are all touring the UK throughout May and June. I am particularly excited about the return of Mr A to Z to the uk and am hoping he won't get cut off this time. And last time I saw Beautiful South they were actually rather good...they do a mean cover of Don't Stop Moving and their new single Manchester is classic jaunty singalong BS ;)

MP3: Manchester

Dashboard Confessional who produced my favourite track of 2003 (Hands Down) are back in May with a single called Don't Wait and an as yet untitled album. Ooo excitement!

Freddie Ljungberg on the front cover of attitude magazine? Don't mind if i do ;) Plus an interview inside with big gay Andrew from Desperate Housewives? Even better...

And the best news of the day? Louise Rennison has finished the next book in the all too hilarious adventures of Georgia Nicholson. I seriously laugh my arse off when I read these books which is good cos i haven't lost the Christmas weight yet :( Startled By His Furry Shorts will be out on July 3rd :)

So hows your week been?

PS I have become instantly obsessed tonight with The Upper Room, so thank you! They mention people like Bowie as influences (and pick "Reality"? WOT?) but I hear The Lilac Time and Aztec Camera. Esp Lilac. Singer is very Stephen Duffy...

yay! glad you enjoyed the post - it took ages to do... just about to add in some robbie...

there are a lot of free downloads on the upperroomsite.com and their myspace site which i am sure u have checked out. I absolutely adore them - I have been meaning to check out Stephen Duffy since he hooked up with the Robster so may just have to do that...

The Lilac Time is really good. My favorite is "Work For The Weekend" - and he sounds like The Upper Room on "The Stars Shine Tonight" - esp the Compendium version which is more acoustic. I believe there are remasters of LT due this year.

Sdaly, I am not really much in love with the new Robbie CD. I only saved about 5 songs.

The Robbie cover ain't so bad. I like it!

I remember reading somewhere ages ago that Neil first met Robbie when they were at the same bar, and Robbie jumped on stage and did an impromptu version of "It's Only The Wind."

And no more mean comments about the Pets looking old! Neil can't really do much about being 78 years old, now can he?

To answer that seriously, comments about other people looking old are frequently more about me than the people I am commenting on.

When I was 18, Michael Stipe was a ravishing BEAUTY and now? Esp in the Document era. I see in him my own mortality. Some people reading this are younger than me. It may not bother them as much when they reach my age, but trust me, aging is a rude awakening.

well put xo :( to put it in the words of one of my hyperverbal friends "aging sucks". I want all my pictures airbrushed from now on ;)
