thought i would stray from music (somewhat) and list some of the things that i just can't go without right now...but first up - the debates and my choices :)
Paolo Nutini vs James Morrison:
winner ~ PAOLO!
Captain vs The Duels:
reluctantly the winner is The Duels. I give their debut album the edge, although Captain are at V...
Javine vs Jamelia comeback singles:
Never been a huge fan in the past of either but both have crafted catchy comeback tunes but i have to choose Jamelia for this one. Check it out for yourself...
MP3: Jamelia - Something About You
MP3: Javine - Don't Let The Morning Come
Also, this time next week I will be at V festival. Question: if you were going (are you going?) who would you go and see and who would you avoid like the plague? Click here for a list of acts and I will reveal my choices later this week...
The Must List (August Edition)
The other band from Las Vegas...
MP3: P!ATD - Lying...
The Friar Tuck we'd all like to ...
With the huge success of Dr Who, the BBC is going all retro again and is bringing back another saturday night teatime classic, Robin Hood. Newcomer Jonas Armstrong is playing the Prince of Thieves, this time around in what is being described as fun modern and intelligent with a unique blend of exhilarating action adventure, wit and romance. Jonas seems set to become on of Britains newest heartthrobs and hopefully the show will bring to the fore elements of the classic story such as outrageous scams, disguises, breathtaking swordplay and fantastic archery. i'll be watching...
The Late Night Spin Off...
Its a well known fact that Hollyoaks is the most unappreciated soap on television right now. Its late night spin offs however, have always been a bit dodgy. I do have high hopes for the 20 part series In The City. Just because Sex is missing from the title it doesn't mean it will be missing from the show... Most of the characters seem more than a little gay with a gay for pay model, 16 year old man lover Josh and a sexually confused teacher making up the cast of characters. they are all linked together by the discovery of a dead body in their little suburb... it seems Tv just got a little gayer :)
The Wizard Of Oz...
Australia has offered up some great exports in recent years - Kylie is the ultimate gay icon of our time, Kath and Kim is the most hilarious thing on television right now and Aussiebum underwear are the coolest undergarments around for covering my modesty I've raved about their underwear before but now there is a range of swimwear that has truly creative and colourful designs on to help you stand out at the beach. becks even has a pair to support his unemployed goldenballs on the yacht - what more exuse do you need to get your trunks wet??
The classics always remain...
The distinguished blue striped shirt hasn't lost its edge. On the contrary, when freed from windsor knotted ties, suit jackets and trading floors, the old school staple looks as fresh as any of its brightly printed contemporaries. The newest incarnations (best from The Gap) - narrowly cut and with buttonless collars - dress up dark jeans so nicely that a blazer becomes superfluous. Love that word
The Designer...
When Robert Molnar abandoned the fashion industry in the eighties, his flamboyant women's line was inspiring the same frenetic buzz as the clothing of then-rising star Marc Jacobs. After over a decade of styling magazine covers and personal clients like Sting, Molnar is back on 7th Avenue with a name sake line for men - and he knows that men don't want over the top, they want quiet. Just a lovely range of clothes...
The Literary Guilty Pleasure...
Fablehaven by Brandon Mull creates a world where magical creatures of all descriptions were gathered for centuries to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. When Kendra and Seth discover that their grandfather is the current caretaker of the secret sanctuary, perilous consequences are set in motion. This is a thrilling adventure full of suspense humour and a host of mythical creatures. Cliched i know, but you won't be able to stop turning the page...
Anyway, I won't go into why you should have picked James Morrison (is it not obvious etc.)
However, as you asked - if I was going to V, this is who I'd want to see: Faithless, Keane, Razorlight, Editors, Hard Fi (why I don't know), Girls Aloud (really - are they going), The Magic Numbers, Sugababes, Sandi Thom (I actually unlike everyone else - love her), Nerina Pallot (like she is fucking brill, and they can't spell), Orson, The Feeling, Matt Willis, Bic Runga (because she's from NZ), Lily Allen (because she is the best thing since sliced bread), Lorraine and James Morrison.
Is that too much? I just got caried away seeing the list of the artists' names. Even so... I think there is more important things to discuss, like why they spelt Nerina's name wrong.
And more, I am sure.
i don't dislike james morrison, i just give paolo the edge as i adore his these streets song and last request so very very much...
You should have a Zappin' brand. (Branding is big, ask Miss Hilton.)
I now love the Jamelia song, FYI, so I have gone back over to her camp. Also Jamelia is one of the absolute most beautiful women on earth!
